VenueLocator

Privacy & Cookie Policy

Effective July 13, 2026

This policy explains how VenueLocator(“we”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use venuelocator.us, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • Information you provide. When you submit a venue inquiry we collect the event details, your name, and contact information. If you create an owner account or claim a listing, we collect your email and account credentials.
  • Information collected automatically. With your consent, we use cookies and analytics to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, referring source, approximate location, device/browser).
  • Listing information. Venue listings are compiled from public and open data sources and enrichment; they are not personal information about site visitors.

Cookies & analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to measure site traffic and improve the directory. These set analytics cookies only after you allow them.

We implement Google Consent Mode. Visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland are asked to opt in before analytics/advertising cookies are used. Elsewhere (including the United States), analytics are enabled by default and you may opt out at any time using the banner or the “Cookie choices” link in the footer. Strictly-necessary cookies (needed for sign-in and security) are always active.

How we use information

To operate and improve the directory, respond to and route venue inquiries to relevant venues, provide owner accounts and lead delivery, process payments, and maintain security.

How we share information

  • Venues. When you submit an inquiry, your event details and contact information are shared with up to a few matching venues so they can respond.
  • Service providers. We use providers such as our hosting/database platform, Google (analytics), and Stripe (payments). They process data on our behalf.
  • We do not sell personal information for money. Some analytics/advertising cookies may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under certain US state laws; you can opt out as described below.

Your privacy choices

You can accept or decline analytics/advertising cookies via the consent banner or the “Cookie choices” link in the footer. We honor browser opt-out preference signals (Global Privacy Control) where required.

Depending on where you live (for example, under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain processing of your personal information. To exercise a right, contact us using the details below.

Data retention & security

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, and use reasonable safeguards to protect it.
